Purpose

Overall functional leader providing Procurement support for global Gum and Candy business. Establishes alignment and linkage to drive successful delivery of all Procurement related growth/innovation, margin management, cost reduction and quality initiatives in support of Gum & Candy business goals and initiatives. Position is responsible for leading 8 reports with a global spend of $1,300MM to $1,500MM covering 11 highly complex industries, (Flavors, Seasonings, Polyols, Glucose, Gum Base Ingredients, Artificial Sweeteners, Colors, Vitamins and Citric/Citrates) and 70 Global suppliers. Directs all Strategic Sourcing activity, Supply Base Relationship Development and is responsible for all of the day to day activities of his/her staff involving Budgeting, Productivity, Quality and Stakeholder Communication. Leads direct reports on Strategy Development, Supply Risk, Total Cost, Growth & Innovation with suppliers. Responsible for financial planning and has direct accountability for productivity and cash flow contributions. Maintains strong linkages with stakeholders in RD&Q, Operations and Supply Chain to ensure alignment on goals and directs their respective activities accordingly.
Accountabilities


1. Sourcing Strategy and Contracting: Directs the development of sourcing strategies for 8 categories covering every division of Kraft Food s Global businesses. Supports and executes the global strategic sourcing to enable optimal solutions. Leads the supplier optimization process and ensures successful contract execution. Leverages supplier capabilities and maximize opportunities to meet quality, cost and service requirements. Sound strategies and contracts are key in achieving targets and delivering continuous improvement. Works collaboratively with business leaders to develop sector specific sourcing strategies. Communicates supplier capabilities and develops capacity and contingency plans.

2. Global Business Unit Management: Responsible for the successful delivery of all Procurement related growth/innovation, margin management, cost reduction, customer service and quality initiatives for Gum & Candy global business. The lead Procurement resource providing functional guidance to the global Gum & Candy business and represent function at business leadership meetings. Ensure suppliers deliver on all commercialization efforts in a timely and quality fashion. Build, expand and leverage a complementary network to S&T (R&D), Manufacturing, Logistics and Marketing to promote effective execution of joint initiatives. Understands and communicates Procurement category/supply base strategies and external market dynamics to business leadership highlighting risks and opportunities to ensure informed decision making.  
 
3.  Growth Initiatives: Match business needs with supplier capabilities to drive strong business partnerships and deliver growth opportunities based on clear understanding of the business priorities and innovation capabilities within supply industry. Ensure functional involvement, collaboration within technical community and speed to market from a procurement perspective within the needed quality/cost parameters. Support the new product commercialization process, acquisitions and divestitures. Identifies priorities and allocates resources in support of growth initiatives by utilizing Procurement tools such as Supplier Challenges, Innovation Days, etc

4. Supplier Relations: Manages supplier relationships to encourage supplier innovation and maximize supplier contributions to Kraft. Meets with preferred suppliers on a quarterly basis to ensure contractual obligations are being met or exceeded. Ensure the Stakeholders commitment to be part of the process and evaluate the strategic suppliers in annual bases. This covers 8 of the categories most strategic suppliers and ensures alignment with Kraft s growth, quality and service expectations.

5. Employee Leadership and Development: Leads and develops direct reports to achieve their highest level of competency and prepare them for future opportunities. Directs a staff of 6 senior level analysts/managers to deliver results in a key segment of direct materials. Focuses on development through coaching and 1 on 1 meetings with direct reports that ensures alignment with goals and course corrects if necessary.

6. Stakeholder Linkage: Partners with internal stakeholders in R&D, Business Sectors and Global Supply Chain in support of the businesses strategic direction. Represents Procurement perspective and communicates sourcing strategies, plans and results. Drives alignment with business priorities and objectives.

7. Financial Planning: Leads productivity planning and accountable for delivering productivity targets. Develops pricing forecasts and budget assumptions to meet financial planning calendar. Develops cash flow plans and delivers cash flow contribution targets. Communicates supply market trends and manages financial risks.
Pre-Requisites

10 years of Procurement experience. Background to include any of these areas: Operations, R&D, or Supply Chain would be very beneficial.

5 years Managerial experience required.
Solid sourcing and contract management skills with proven ability and track record of effective and sound contract negotiations.
Experience lead negotiator of global contracts with advanced negotiation skills required
Effective relationship management and influencer at all levels of the organization
Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex ideas
Strategic agility with ability to create strategies and plans.
Proven Leader with managerial experience and ability to build effective teams. Track record of developing team and successors.
Strong verbal and written communication skills

20% International travel required
