Job Title: Test Sr Engineer

  • Participates on Engineering Core Teams to determine what new test methods and tools are required for new technologies.
  • Develops significant new test methods and tools to enable bring-up, Sub-system and Product testing of new platform, storage, peripheral and software products and technologies.
  • Works with designers and technologists to develop test tools for future technologies.
  • Counsels Development Engineers on future technology test methods and tools.
  • Works across test groups to establish end-to-end test planning and execution.
  • Works across test groups to reduce test redundancy and close gaps in test coverage.



Qualifications

  • Possess ability to analyze complex situations or data requiring an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results to prevent critical delays in schedules and/or unit operations that may jeopardize overall business activities.
  • Detail-oriented with attention to product quality.
  • Ability to work under date-driven schedules.
  • Capable of using software and programming skills to generate automated test cases
  • Capable of clearly and confidently presenting project status information to internal and vendor senior management team members.
  • Able to utilize and understand debug tools and trace outputs to perform initial root-cause investigation of issues found during test.
  • Able to analyze suppliers test processes and capabilities to perform Dell-required testing
  • Possess knowledge of tape standalone drives, libraries and tape back-up software applications.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in the following technology areas: RAID, NAS, IDM, SAN, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, enterprise-level servers and storage enclosures.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Operating System architecture.
  • Understanding of hardware and software interactions; able to apply this understanding to resolve issues.
  • Able to drive problem-solving strategies for complex problems that involve cross-functional disciplines.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
