Description
"Connecting People" is at the heart of the Nokia brand. Nokia is the world's number one mobile solutions company, connecting more than 1.3 billion people every day. Mobile maps, apps, music, media, messaging and more are explored and presented here in a comprehensive mobile solutions world.
Nokia's people ambition is very clear: an advanced integrated company built upon trust and accountability, great leadership and common values. We understand people's desire to join a dynamic and innovative team, where your ideas are valued and your creativity is nurtured. Our future is your creation.
The Services unit is one of the primary growth engines for Nokia's business. Our unit delivers new, innovative Internet services that delight consumers and enterprises, increase the value of Nokia's devices and fundamentally change the perception of Nokia in the market. We are creating a combined device and internet experience that people love.
Our team is responsible of building core social assets and driving the "Capture, Share and Relive" (C-S-R) Services proposition. Our mission is to innovate on all aspects of the end-to-end consumer social experiences including Group Wall, Journeys, and Social Media Gallery and Social Profiles.
We are looking for an experienced architect to work together with the C-S-R architecture team to define the architecture and provide technical leadership and guidance for the back end systems that drive the C-S-R products. Strong track record of architecture and technical leadership, as well as extensive knowledge and experience working with very large distributed datasets is a must. Although the focus of the position will be on scalable data and infrastructure, extensive experience and understanding of System architecture and the end-to-end Internet Services ecosystem is required.
The position requires constant interaction with Product Management, Marketing and Strategy leadership, User Experience leadership, and of course all levels of Engineering. It is your role to interact with all the above disciplines to derive and drive architectural requirements and strategy; distill new concepts and ideas into concrete system architecture and software design; and provide technical guidance to Engineering teams developing these products. In this position, you will also interact with the broader Services and Nokia architecture community to make sure C-S-R's technology strategy is in sync with developments in other parts of Services and Nokia, as well as to contribute to the community and drive requirements from the organization's perspective. Strong track record in playing the above roles in a large technology organization is a must for this position.
Qualifications
• Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar technical degree
• Extensive track-record defining architecture and providing technical leadership in complex software engineering projects
• Extensive knowledge and experience with NoSQL systems
• Extensive knowledge of Nokia's Ovi Internet Services and platforms and Internet technologies
• Proven ability to negotiate requirements with Product and User Experience teams
• Demonstrated thought leadership and innovation (e.g. technical publications, patents)
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• At least 10 years as an architect or similar roles
The strongest candidates will also have:
• Experience in Agile software development and the scrum methodology
• Experience working with large, diverse, and geographically distributed multinational teams
"Connecting people" is the heart of our brand. This is why Nokia is respected and recognized worldwide. Our people shape and create future technologies. This is something we are proud of, and so will you.
We offer a dynamic learning culture that nurtures openness, transparency, with endless opportunities for competence development. We reward the results of your success.
