This position is for a PowerVault Engineer for external RAID and SAS products within ESG. The PowerVault engineering team is closely tied to most of the development organizations, including the clustering/HA teams, OS teams, systems management and hard drives. The position provides the opportunity for setting the technical direction for the embedded software of the external PowerVault system and responsibility for its implementation into the larger PowerVault solution. The PowerVault engineer would participate in setting the technical direction for the embedded SW features and functions for current and upcoming PowerVault disk products within ESG.
This includes feature definition, supplier selection, development process execution and improvement, integration testing, fault isolation and resolution, manufacturing release, and resolution of design issues found in the field. Duties include all activities necessary to take a design from concept to production including, architecture definition, debug, test, issue resolution and factory ramp support. Strong working knowledge of PCI, SAS, SATA, SCSI, and iSCSI protocols. Experience with RAID solutions in external controller implementations with knowledge of internal solutions a plus. Strong understanding of key RAID concepts: striping, caching, parity, failure & recovery, redundancy, performance, IOP hardware acceleration. Strong knowledge of high availability clusters. Ability to: identify potential product weakness; provide design guidance/recommendations for improvements to subsequent redesigns; drive cross-functional development efforts. Good understanding of firmware; device drivers; server and storage management strategies; and application in an enterprise environment and ability to drive technical issues to root cause.
Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 10+ years of Storage System Design and Development experience is required. MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
