Description
Nokia's Search Team is looking for an experienced Mobile Applications Software Engineer.
As a Mobile Applications Software Engineer you will involved in the software product development lifecycle within the Ovi Search team, specifically Universal Search. Universal Search is a brand new initiative that integrates search from multiple sources such as location search, web search, on phone contacts, music, and email, into a unified user experience. This cutting edge mobile application will be Nokia's latest and greatest search aggregator. It will be available on Nokia Smartphones and run on Meego operating systems.
What you will do
· Design and implement code that aggregates search results from a variety of sources and ranks them appropriately.
· Design and implement code that produces a metric to test and verify the ranking results.
· Provide resource/time estimates for all development activities.
· Unit test all code and work with server and QA counterparts on system and solution testing.
· Maintain clear and effective communication with the team, Product Management, Development Engineering, and other teams as necessary
Qualifications
· 5-7 years of development experience
· 5- 7 years of experience with C/C++
· 2+ year of experience with a scripting language - preferably Python
· 2+ years experience working on a team
· Strong knowledge and understanding of algorithms
· Good understanding on networking issues
Preferred Skills (Pluses)
· Experience in developing applications for Maemo /Meego or Linux operating systems
· Experience in developing applications for Symbian S60 environment
· Experience in client/server environments
· Previous Mobile applications experience in a plus
· Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field
