Position Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineering

Department: RnR & Manufacturing Engineering Group – Focus on Xbox / Zune / Surface / MS Accessories / PC Hardware

Purpose:
Provide the technical support and innovation required to assure best in class manufacturing operation worldwide. Provides technical guidance to worldwide manufacturing in support of continuous process improvement. Establish a project plan that covers; production, process implementation, process maintenance and tooling process.

The Mechanical engineer position will showcase your proven components/subsystems suppliers’ quality management, in depth knowledge on modern quality techniques (six sigma, statistical quality control methodologies), strong analytical skill-sets, communication (written and verbal), your focus on the customer, and your ability to manage the relationship with the suppliers. This position’s core focus is managing key mechanical components/subsystems supplier quality activities by effectively collaborating with a variety of peer groups across the organization as well as externally, including, but not limited to, Business Stakeholders, the Tier 2 and Tier 1 Supply Base, Development, Supply Chain, Compliance and Quality, to track Tier 2 quality metrics and drive improvements to components/subsystems suppliers. The position requires a high degree of technical knowledge of manufacturing processes control and quality.

Responsibilities:
Understand design changes and provide build support at factory
Drive unresolved problems to the appropriate groups, Redmond Dev. Eng. Redmond, T2 Tooling Eng. and others group
Communicate to manufacturing team on process related failures
Support to identify deficiencies and work with corresponding group to improve or screening.
Provide feedback to factory on failure diagnostic
Conduct targeted experiments at factory for quality improvement
Ensure proper processes and documentations at manufacturing
Drives implementation of best practices
Drives continuous process improvement initiatives
Approve and assists with implementation of procedures, process changes and/or ECNs
Provides support during EV, DV, PV of new product

Contacts:
The Sr. Sustaining Engineering would be expected to develop and maintain communication with Sites Resident Engineering, Site FM, Redmond Engineering, Mach groups, work directly with console manufacturers as required. This position would also represent the Mfg Engineering Operations as required.

Qualifications Should Include:
B.S. Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree.
5-10 years hands-on precision mechanical device assembly, desirable experience on gear train mechanism
Strong Product Engineering capability à Tooling and Process experience.

Hands on Engineering supervision and/or team leadership experience.
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated work experience in manufacturing environment, including high volume manufacturing.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical data and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Demonstrated ability to manage large projects/programs.
Demonstrated ability to manage large NPI projects
