Description
This is an "evangelist" role for a Tooling expert with industry experience in the field of Mobile Java application development at Nokia Mobile Phones. The candidate would join the Developer Experience team which looks after the developer offerings for Nokia's high volume feature phones (S30/S40). The individual will be responsible for driving the architecture evolution of SDK and tools as well as for providing tech consultancy on application development projects.
Key Deliverables
- Work in various external forums (e.g. MTJ) to promote relevant feature phone tools & SDKs to the app developer community and ensure their visibility Vs competitor offerings. Ensuring Nokia tools are visible in the industry developer tooling initiatives.
-Lead development of any plug-in etc. for these external communities. This can be achieved by influencing, leading an internal project team or driving deliveries via subcontract.
- Work with the SDK product manager to influence the tool roadmap.
- Act as external and internal evangelist for feature phone developer tools.
- Providing key tool trends and visibility to SDK product manager.
Qualifications
Key skills:
- Good experience in software tools - understand tooling scenarios, Java tools particularly
- Experience of acting as a tech evangelist or key influencer in external tooling forum needed.
- Exposure to mobile app development tools would be a positive. Exposure to industry forums like MTJ and others would be valuable.
-Ability to work independently needed.
- Ability to occasionally lead a small project team or drive a subcontract activity would be needed.
-Passion for innovation with excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
Ability to work and be persuasive in international, multi-cultural environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent.
- Technical and tool background is very advantageous (a suitable candidate might be an ex-developer with coordination / PM activities, ideally open source technologies, although this is not a hands on role but also not a PM role)
