Job Purpose
The Senior Manager Corporate Communications - Online Media, is responsible for overseeing the creation, management and development of Etihad’s online/social media strategy and management of the social media steering group, including the appointed social media agency. Reporting to the SVP Corporate Affairs, this role coordinates with the Corporate Communications, IT, Digital, Marketing and Guest Affairs teams. The position involves creating and delivering engaging & successful social campaigns, as well as developing and promoting a social framework throughout the company.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
Maintain and develop the airline’s social media strategy, coordinating with stakeholders across the airline to ensure its effectiveness and encouraging adoption of relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture and the airline’s communications and marketing approach.
Coordinate with the IT and Marketing development team to plan and develop the social media tools in use on the airline’s sites, as well as taking ownership for the social product roadmap planning.
Manage the airline’s appointed social media agency and ascertain requirements for future support.
Manage the airline’s social media training program for relevant employees, in conjunction with the airline’s appointed social media agency. Work with different areas of the business to ensure appropriate resources are in place for a long term, sustainable social media program. Work with the Guest Affairs team in the development and implementation of an online customer service plan.
Work with the Corporate Communications Managers and other areas of the business to develop rich media content aligned to the airline’s communications objectives.
Manage the airline’s social media release optimisation program and development.
Ensure staff guidelines for social media use are properly distributed and maintained.
Manage the airline’s approach to using social media in issues and crisis management.
Oversee the management of a Blogger outreach program and ensure the maintenance of an active brand ambassador network to spread the word about the airline.
Work with the appointed social media agency to ensure the current social and online media monitoring approach meets the airline’s requirements, and identify external sites and influencers that Etihad should focus on to maximise online reputation.
Work with the IT and Marketing departments in the development of the airline’s online media room.
Requirements
Degree level education with acquired specialisation in online and social media. Post holder must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of public relations or marketing gained over a period of 10 years, with specialisation in online and social media gained over a period of at least five years (during this time).
You should be creative, diplomatic, cool under pressure with fantastic interpersonal skills, and have the following:
Strong project management and organisational skills
Advanced knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Digg, Youtube, Twitter, Flickr etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios
Knowledge of blogging ecosystem relevant to Etihad
Experience leading projects to successful deployment
Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format to board level, and build and maintain relationships
Team leader, with experience of managing potentially volatile situations
Great technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly
Have a good knowledge of principles of SEO and PR
