The Data OS development backlog contains a significant amount of development work to mature and enhance the Persistence operations of DATAOS to handle advancing User needs. Some of that work includes:
· Adding new distributed computing and storage technologies
· Implement range order storage
· Usage of high and low latency replication and data exchange protocols
We need to invest in more development effort of our Persistence technology to increase our functionality coverage and provide better performance to the end user. Customer integration will significantly increase in 2H 2011 and DATAOS must be able to provide increased functionality and capability that is ahead of the customers needs.

Service platform development engineer for Service Platform R&D organization
Participates in service functional specification, design, and feature development
Works closely with team members and management to ensure that business strategic objectives are met with the proposed architectural solutions
Writes and maintains service application code, frameworks, libraries, APIs and documentation
Define and write test plans and developer documentation
Writes and executes automated tests



Qualifications

Typical candidate has 5-8 years relevant internet service development experience. Key contributor or recognized specialist in many or all of the following areas desired:
Object-oriented programming experience in more than one language.
Strong Java engineering skills
Multithreaded programming and debugging experience
Excellent verbal and written English communications skills
Experience with code sample creation and developer documentation and instructions
Distributed systems/computing/storage
1. Distributed file system (HBase/HDFS)
2. Cassandra
3. Voldemort
System/Java tuning
1. GC tuning
2. IO tuning
Performance Engineering
1. Design performance tests to conduct complex system performance
2. Run test to validate tests
3. Analyze test results
4. Find bottlenecks as the system and application level
Willingness and openness to learn new skills and ramp up quickly
Excellent data design skills.
Understanding of Agile development methods, particularly SCRUM and Test Driven Development.
Proven ability to work in distributed teams desirable.
Prior experience building platform/service technologies a plus
Experience with virtualized computing a plus
B.S./B.A. in Computer Science or related technical field (M.S./PH.D a plus)
