Position Scope
Head of Strategic Communications, responsible for managing internal and executive communications and associated channels for European Markets. Formed three years ago the team work in partnership with the business to communicate our strategy, influencing behaviours and inspiring employees to achieve our business goals. The aim is to achieve this in an open, personal and effective way through an internal and executive communication framework that delivers the right message to the right audience at the right time.

Operational Impact
Leads objectives, plans and communication activities that impact company revenue, profitability, corporate processes and productivity initiatives

Level of Interaction
Regularly interacts with Senior and Vice-Presidents, and Directors. 

Overview
This position is responsible for the development, articulation and integration of Europe’s communications strategy that supports Chris Dedicoat and his organization’s business goals and objectives. This person is a trusted member of the theatre leadership team and acts as the primary liaison to the executive and internal communication managers across the organization driving a coordinated approach to communication across the organization. This person is also a key interface to the corporate communication and corporate positioning teams, supporting key collaboration initiatives such as the Communications Center of Excellence (CCoE), Vision/Strategy/Execution (VSE); integrating the best practices from these efforts into their organization. 

Model
Communication plays a key role in driving our business strategy and serving as a change agent for the business. With this in mind, the Head of Strategic Communication is the communications “hub’ for theatre-wide messaging, including direct communication counsel to the SVP, message alignment across senior staff and organizational communication inside the theatre. This collaborative model is designed to ensure that every constituency (inside and outside the company) understands the company’s vision, strategy and execution plans for the future and how corporate decisions are getting us there. 

Responsibilities
Strategic Communications

• Create and drive strategic communication plans around theatre strategies and priorities to build the company’s brand and bottom line with every internal announcement, event and customer/partner/public appearance in collaboration with in theatre PR and AR. 
• Ensure that through the team our executive spokespeople are driving consistent corporate messages that reinforce Cisco’s aspirations with every communication – verbal, written, presentation, video, blog, etc. 
• Create and/or influence ‘point of views’ for theatre leadership team and create an integrated communication plan in support of this POV. 
• Ensure key theatre leaders have integrated messages and spokesperson profiles—from understanding their backgrounds and priorities to seeing/hearing them more frequently on a global basis. 
• Drive message alignment and integration for European priorities. 
• Demonstrates understanding of Cisco’s strategic messages/priorities and be accountable for European leadership recognition and alignment to these messages. 
Organizational / Internal Communication:
• Leverage communication for key change management initiatives that involve leadership, culture, process and behavior changes. 
• Participate on cross-functional Internal Communications team with peers around the world to ensure consistency on timely issues and key messaging opportunities. 
• Serve as the theatre liaison to the internal communications team so that we better engage our managers and employee on Cisco’s key business initiatives. 
Communications Leadership:
• Actively engages with broad communication community at Cisco, sharing areas of focus for their respective teams, as well as seeking input from peers. 
• Provides leadership into cross-functional efforts, campaigns and/or programs by working through complicated messages with other functions, considering message impact and nuances for multiple audiences. 
• Demonstrates above average understanding and strategic thinking across multiple communication disciplines, therefore recognized as a thought leader by leadership team and peers.
• Thinks out-of-the box and takes risks to improve how Cisco brings the message together with the medium via 2.0 collaborative technologies. 
Team Management
• Manage a team of executive, internal and communications managers, in alignment with global competency framework.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience designing and implementing innovative communications messages and strategies within a global organization
• Demonstrated success at crafting corporate communications strategy in partnership with senior leadership and across functions /geographies
• Proven experience in identifying innovative approaches to aligning limited internal and external resources to implement programs in a cost-efficient fashion
• Demonstrated change management / change leadership skills and organizational development consulting skills
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, business administration or related field. Masters degree preferred 

Education
• Typically requires BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, PR, Business, IS or equivalent plus 8+ years of related experience in a Communications organization.

• Coordinate message delivery across multiple channels and partnering organizations.
