Windows 7 End User Computing Technical Consultant - Central and Southeast US

This is a home based / remote position. No relocation will be offered and all candidates must have easy access to a major airport. Ability to travel 60 - 80% required (target home on weekend, travel Monday and Friday).

Our Windows 7 End User Computing Technical Consultant is responsible for working directly with Dell customers to help plan and design optimized End User Computing technical solutions including recommending and implementing a mix of preferred imaging, application packaging, deployment, migration, OS & application streaming/virtualization, and managed client solutions. The individual will serve as a hands on Technical Consultant during the assessment, design and solution implementation service phases. A primary responsibility of the job will be to propose & implement technologies that transition enterprise environments into Dell lines of business. The consultant will utilize their financial acumen to present the business value of their technical recommendations in an ROI based manner, using our consistent methodology and formalized documentation. The consultant will work directly with executive and senior level decision makers in this highly visible role.

This consultant will be responsible for the creation of technical business cases, process diagrams, and technical solutions for Dell customers. The consulting engagements follow a highly structured process including interviewing clients, analyzing data and then constructing recommendations. Responsibilities include developing and presenting comprehensive analysis and documentation of the customer's current state of operations and recommendations for optimal future state. This requires proficiency in creating and operating ROI & TCO models. Consultants will also implement the technical recommendations. They must be detail oriented, with strong verbal, written, analytical, and communication capabilities.

The position requires a high degree of self-motivation, and must be able to work both independently and as a team member. Individuals are expected to maintain current understanding of PC technologies. Candidates should be able to assume leadership on engagements and work without direct supervision, interfacing with customer IT and business-function leaders. The team also works closely with various technical and project teams to identify and resolve issues, and mitigate customer impact during engagements.

Qualifications

TECHNICAL SKILLS (must possess hands on experience with a strong mix of the following)
• Windows 7, Vista, XP, and other Operating Systems
• A working knowledge of standard client platform administration, configuration, rights management and file access
• BDD / Microsoft Deployment
• SCCM Configuration
• USMT and other user state migration technologies
• Asset and system management suites. Examples include SCCM, SMS, Altiris, Marimba, LANdesk, Everdream, SilverBack, Citrix, etc.
• Microsoft Windows NT Domains, Windows Active Directory and Novell Directory
• Working knowledge of Microsoft ACT and MAP. Demonstrated ability to deliver finding reports from both in a customer presentation
• Microsoft Hyrdation Toolset
• TCP/IP networks, including DHCP, DNS, and WINS
• Internet technologies, including IIS, HTML, XML, HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP
• Windows registry, interaction of drivers with the OS
• Unattended / silent installs of Windows operating systems
• OS and application streaming technologies
• OS and application virtualization technologies
• Imaging tools & best practices
• Application packaging and MSI files
• WISE Packaging Studio or Install Shield
• Scripting tools such as WMI, ADSI, VBScript, batch files
• Enterprise application architectures, such as .Net, COM+
• Centralized Computing technologies, such as Citrix, Ardence, VDI, AppStream, and SoftGrid (a.k.a.- Microsoft Application Virtualization) 

CONSULTING SKILLS
• Experienced working with executive and senior level IT decision makers within an organization.
• Strong project management experience leading deployments for enterprise customers.
• Ability to assemble and deliver customer presentation on the necessary tasks needed to deploy Windows 7
• Working knowledge on delivery on Microsoft DDPS and MDOP engagements a plus• Advanced oral and written communication skills, problem solving, negotiation, and multi-tasking experience
• Excellent presentation/public speaking skills for technical and management presentations, both internally and to clients
• Undisputed success under aggressive schedules and ambiguous direction
• Strong influence/interpersonal skills, customer orientation, team interaction/effectiveness, analytical, and decision making skills
• Strong management/supervisory command skills
• Proven ability to elicit customer requirements, define limits to project scope and develop contract documentation
• Interviews clients, then constructs solutions based on findings
• Develops and maintains direct customer relationships on a proactive basis
• Communicates with customer and Dell account teams, to ensure project success

• Ability to assume leadership on engagements and work without direct supervision, interfacing with customer IT and business-function leaders including the ability to understand and accommodate competing political demands in customer organizations
• Ability to maintain professional demeanor and appearance at all times
• Ability to develop concise deliverables, processes diagrams, and solutions that demonstrate return on investment & superiority
• Must possess strong business acumen working with sales and other internal organizations.
• Must be detail oriented, with strong verbal, written, analytical, and communication capabilities

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in IT related field or equivalent experience is preferred
• 8+ years hands on experience within IT enterprise environments of at least 2000 desktop/client machines preferred
• 4+ years hands on experience in one or more of the following: Automated inventory collection, Desktop service support and/or administration, Imaging/provisioning solutions, Desktop configuration and patch management, Complex change and/or release management cycles, Security or vulnerability assessments, Financial justification/mgt. for IT services required
• ITIL Foundation or Service Manager level certification beneficial
• MCSE or PMP certification beneficial
• Six-Sigma, BPI or TQM process training or background beneficial
