Job Description
This is a line management role within Service Delivery. It involves the management of several technology areas that deliver all aspects of end user computing for Etihad Airways. This includes all desktops, laptops, printers, scanners and other end-user devices. The key deliverables associated with the role cover the following:-
Strategy and design of Etihad Airways desktop IT Infrastructure,
IT Help desk
IT Support
Compliance with industry “Best Practice” ITIL disciplines
This involves managing over 37 resources and controlling a budget in excess of AED 20 million. It also involves making key investment decisions on the technologies that Etihad Airways adopts and ensuring that the best possible return on investment is achieved.
Requirements
A university degree equivalent to the bachelor’s degree in any of the following subjects
a) Computer Science
b) Information Technology
c) System management
d) Electronics & Communication
One of the following Certifications is desirable
a. ITIL Certificate in Service Management
b. COBIT Certification from ISACA
Minimum 10 Years Experience in IT technology design and implementation
Design and management of a large (5,000 plus user) IT desktop solution.
System Design and Development.
Responsibilities
Provide management and leadership to the End user computing department Ensure a suitable level of Resourcing is maintained to deliver all required IT services at optimum cost and the highest possible levels of availability.
Prepare a detailed budget for the IT End User Computing department. Ensure that the Budget reflects the business requirements of Etihad Airways and identifies all required expenditure.
Architect an efficient and cost effective Desktop design for Etihad Airways. Work with suppliers to reduce workload within Etihad Airways by having all devices delivered in a built state. Ensure that build updates are available when required and that suppliers support our strategy by minimizing changes to hardware and firmware.
Deliver end user computing devices to pre-agreed Service levels. Agree and maintain a stocking policy with suppliers to ensure that optimum levels of stock are maintained at all times.
Provide technical guidance to the system support team involved in installation, troubleshooting and repair of the systems.
Conduct ongoing research on products available to implement state-of-the-art technology to strengthen the system infrastructure.
Track and Maintain a full inventory of all of the IT desktop assets

The job involves working longer hours (24/7) including possibly working from home and during week-ends as there will be tremendous pressure due to handling of many projects with aggressive time-scales. Effectively, the incumbent will be on permanent call out.
