The Online Technology Group (OTG) is part of the World Wide Studios, Global Technology organization in Sony Computer Entertainment.  For over 10 years, this group has worked with the premier PlayStation first party game studios to develop cutting edge online experiences on PS2, PSP, PS3 and now Vita.  We are located in beautiful San Diego and have a very casual, family friendly working environment.

This is a Technical Product Manager role which would require working closely with the First Party studios and the various network service divisions of the company to identify feature requests or process improvements for the PlayStation Network Platform.  Communication and prioritization skills are essential for this position.

This is a very exciting role and great career move for a visionary and organized individual with solid experience from the online gaming space.  This role would require collecting of process or feature requests from the game teams, investigation into the technology and feasibility of the requests and coordinating across the organization to see the request completed.

The ideal candidate would also be able to quickly dive deep into any kind of online technology and even prototype solutions as a proof of concept.  The ideal candidate would also be on top of the latest developments in social networking, gaming, metrics and interpretation of data, and publishing processes (like QA, Master Submission, Patching, Content Rating, etc)

This is the perfect position for someone who has spent years in the game industry and wishes to move into a role where they get to work with several AAA studios and have a meaningful impact on the overall direction of the business.

Responsibilities:
Work with groups across the organization to define vision and strategy of process or feature improvements for the PlayStation Network
Act as Product Manager on new initiatives. Drive concepts from design all the way through planning to completion
Prototype solutions
Investigate and analyze new technologies
Clearly communicate proposals, status and feedback to upper management
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a successful product manager or lead programmer for software products
  • Demonstrated ability to collect requirements and synthesize a compelling product strategy
  • Experience with agile development and episodic release cycles
  • Passion for gaming
  • Ability to prioritize requests which have the greatest impact on the organization
  • Team player, with a history of thought leadership
  • Exceptional communicator; needs to effectively communicate with different parts of the organization and summarize information for executive level management
  • Must have the ability to create compelling and relevant documentation or presentation material
  • Programming languages/frameworks: C++, C, Java, embedded systems, scripting language (like C# or Python)
  • Networking development experience


Required Experience / Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Previous game development experience
  • At least seven years of relevant (software development) experience or equivalent

Preferred Experience / Education:

  • At least ten years of relevant (software development) experience or equivalent
  • Acted as a lead on previous projects
  • Has worked on a product or project from its proposal through to its completion.
