Job description

IBM is seeking top talent to join our Business Analytics pre sales team in the New York area. As a key member of the sales team, a Client Technical Specialist leverages techniques such as Demonstrations and Proofs of Concept in order to demonstrate value to the customer and instill confidence in Cognos’ ability to deliver the proposed solution.

In this role you will work in lockstep with your team and your sales counterparts to manage all aspects of the technical sales process in your geography. You will provide technical sales support which may include: collaborating with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions; delivering Proof of Concept; developing and delivering technical education; supporting critical situations; designing solutions; and answering technical questions.

The IBM Business Analytics Solution Specialist (SS) for NY Area has the following responsibilities:

Understanding the client's business requirements, technical requirements and/or competitive landscape.
Developing and delivering compelling demonstrations, proof of concepts, prototypes, and other pre-sales assets which tie Cognos technology to Customer Value.
Understanding Cognos BI and its components (including FPM) at a high level and sharing that expertise across team of peers
Taking initiatives to own accounts and issues and driving team members toward common goal of winning business
Understanding Cognos BI surrounding technology (DB, App Servers, partner technologies, etc.) at a high level and sharing that expertise across peers
Providing technical assistance for Marketing activities: Regional Workshops, User Group Meetings, Sales Seminars and Trade Shows

Experience: We are looking for a strong performer with an appreciable understanding of typical business processes found in large corporations, ideally through prior consulting and software pre-sales experience. Your professional background may include:

· Consulting experience with major firm or systems integrator in the Life Sciences industry
· Pre-sales experience with software vendor
· Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills
· Highly versed in proof of concept and demonstration strategies to drive successful sales cycles
· Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies
· Adherence to, and management of, the solution selling methodology
· Working knowledge of business software including ERP, planning, and consolidation systems.

Required
Bachelor's Degree
At least 6 months experience in Business Intelligence/Business Analytics
Basic knowledge in Data Warehousing, Database Development, Data Modeling
Readiness to travel 25% travel annually
English: Fluent

Preferred
Information Technology
At least 2 years experience in Software Presales, Sales Engineering or Consulting
At least 2 years experience in Business Intelligence/Business Analytics
At least 2 years experience in Data Warehousing, Database Development, Data Modeling
