Purpose

In Kraft we work together to create brands people love. You will contribute to this by positively influencing the continued growth of Kraft subsidiary Ernest Jackson & Co by developing products and processes by working closely with other business functions. The projects you contribute to will be defined and agreed by senior management through the Kraft I2M stage & gate process. You will help develop recipes, specifications, standards and manufacturing procedures for new products and changes to existing products and processes through creative (licensed) confectionery development. This will include the execution of product and / or process development trials and contribution towards the building and maintenance of new and existing process descriptions, validation and specifications.

Accountabilities

Contributes towards the planning, organisation, control & execution of branded, contract and third party product development projects in line with Commercial requirements, with due consideration for factors including raw material price and availability, manufacturing costs, legal constraints and quality and regulatory standards.

Works towards opportunities for driving brand growth, increasing product quality and increasing company profits through the managed optimisation of processes.

Carries out process development to an advanced level where they are approved for market and Factory production considering the likely process to allow smooth technology transfer.

Assists and seeks to advise Manufacturing in overcoming problems.

Works effectively with Commercial and Supply Chain colleagues & influences them with sound technical advice.

Ensures that all activities are carried out with due regard to the Company Health, Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures which meet the requirements of the Health and Safety Regulations, MHRA guidelines and all elements of our product/manufacturing licences.

Supports the delivery of successful development projects through the I2M process.

Pre-Requisites

  • Background in analytical or formulation science
  • Highly motivated individual with strong influencing skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and creativity.
  • Excellent ability to plan, organise and prioritise activity. 
  • Good numerical ability, process orientation and analytical skills to support measurement and process design optimisation.
Qualification.

 Degree level qualification in Science/Food Science/Technology, or at least 2 years development experience. Confectionery experience is an advantage.
A good appreciation of commercial and technical aspects of confectionery or food production.
Visible personal initiative and drive with ability to complete product developments against testing timescales.
